Seeking a Full-time Web Developer & 508 Compliance Specialist for Boutique Marketing + Communications Firm

We’re a small but busy staff. Our clients range from the Federal government, nonprofits, and commercial entities. Much of our current work involves supporting the delivery of HIV/AIDS care and treatment to marginalized populations throughout the United States and its territories and other public health and social cause-related efforts. One great thing about our firm is that we are always growing and taking on new clients and, thus, the repertoire of issues we support and clients we represent is ever-changing.

Currently, we are seeking a full-time Web Developer & 508 Compliance Specialist for immediate hire. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience level, and overall compensation includes medical benefits.

Summary of Web Developer & 508 Compliance Specialist

The ideal candidate must have experience in the planning, execution, and the delivery of web applications across multiple platforms and in ensuring their 508 compliance. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Web Development Duties

Developing websites using standard HTML/CSS practices
Working with WordPress is required – experience with other CMS apps (particularly Drupal) a plus
Keeping in constant communication with other colleagues in the business to develop and deploy their content and designs – and ensuring there is a clear establishment of what can be created within what timeframe
Working with the team to establish work plans to develop and deploy client content
Researching different software programs, such as third-party systems - maintaining software documentation
Implementing contingency plans in case a website goes down
Maintaining all client websites - performing weekly/monthly maintenance procedures and monitoring

508 Compliance Duties

Implement Section 508 Standards and related accessibility laws, regulations, and applications
Convert and format documents and other communication products to be readable by assistive technology devices
Perform 508 compliance and accessibility testing
Quickly troubleshoot and correct assigned deliverables and work products
Analyze and ensure all assigned deliverables and work products comply with 508 regulations

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
2+ years’ experience in web development
1+ years’ SDLC implementation experience
2+ years’ experience as a front-end developer for 508-compliant websites
Experience creating 508-compliance Adobe and Microsoft products (e.g., PDFs, PPTs)
Strong teamwork skills
HTML/XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP
Proficiency with at least one other server-side framework such as python, ruby, Java, ASP, ASP.NET
Prefer proficiency with Adobe products; Microsoft Office software, and developing interactive PDFs (Javascript programming a plus)
Understanding of server architecture
Experience with database systems such as SQL or MySQL
Thorough functional knowledge and coding experience
Basic knowledge of SEO
Basic knowledge of how APIs work
Ability to multitask with strict time constraints, budgets and business goals
Strong communications skills
Trustworthy and able to meet deadlines

Impact Marketing + Communications is based in Silver Spring, Maryland just outside of Washington, DC and our office is accessible by car and Metro. This position includes the ability to telework up to three days per week on average.
